The Colorado Rockies look to start strong in a three-game series against the standout Philadelphia Phillies Friday afternoon from Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. The Phillies have the best record in the majors, 37-14 and 15-6 in away contests.

The Rockies, meanwhile, have struggled greatly this season and sit in last place in the National League with a 16-33 record, 9-12 at home.

The Phillies have won 6 in a row – including a sweep of the defending world champion Texas Rangers. They’re on fire right now and showing no sign of slowing any time soon.

Friday’s pitching matchup will pit Cristopher Sanchez of Philadelphia against Ty Blach of Colorado. Blach (5.14 ERA) is usually a relief pitcher for Colorado and is making his fourth start Friday while Sanchez (3.31 ERA) has been a dependable starter with 49 innings pitched this season. We can expect to see at least 5/6 innings out of Sanchez tonight while Blach may hover around 3 or so.

So, pitching is on Philidelphia’s side and the Phillies boast one of the best batting rotations in the majors. Colorado is at home, but everything is pointing towards a bit of a blowout here for Philadelphia. We are pitting the top team in baseball against the 2nd worst team in baseball, after all.

It’s worth noting that Philadelphia’s high-powered offense has hit 11 by itself in 2 of their last 4 games. The Phillies are 25-23-1 against the over this season but have struggled as the away favorite against the over with a 6-9-1 record. The Rockies have posted similar numbers overall but tend to lean slightly under while playing at home rather than on the road, where they tend to hit the over (17-11 ATO).

Take these number with a grain of salt considering the massive difference in efficiency between the 2 clubs, of course.

The Phillies should feast Friday afternoon in Denver, to put it bluntly. Harper is absolutely on home run watch in a homer heavy ballpark and has totaled a solid amount of doubles this season to aid in this 2.5 number.

Stott hasn’t recorded a 2-hit game in some time (May 13 against New York) but this is the perfect game to break that streak. The Rockies pitching staff is struggling and he’s hit well (slightly better than his .265 average) against lefties this season.

Sanchez’ strikeout number is just comically low here. The Phillies starter will get plenty of run tonight and he’s struck out at least 5 batters in 6 of his 9 starts this season. Considering he’s facing an underwhelming Colorado offense, his number could be well above 6 or 7. For reference, Sanchez threw 10 strikes against Colorado in April, tied for a season high.
