Sky vs. Mercury: WNBA Odds & Picks (Thursday)

The second half of the WNBA season is underway!

We’ve already had four games over the last two days. Tonight, we’ll have a four-game slate filled with two games that oddsmakers think could finish as a one-score game. Let’s take a closer look at Sky vs. Mercury.

Chicago Sky vs. Phoenix Mercury

The Chicago Sky defeated the Phoenix Mercury in the first meeting between these two teams. The Mercury was home and still lost to the Sky in that game.

Tonight, the Mercury will also be at home.

Chicago has lost three straight games. They haven’t won a game since July 2. The Sky have given up at least 82 points in their last four games and three losses. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Mercury have only won five games this season.

But they’re peaking right now. The Mercury have won two of their last three games and knocked off the Connecticut Sun, 72-66 on Tuesday.

The Sun has Brittany Griner and Diana Taurasi on the squad. However, after scoring 15 points in 30 minutes on Tuesday, she’ll be unable to play tonight due to injury. The Sun will rely more on Sophie Cunningham, who has averaged 11.1 points per game. Phoenix doesn’t have the depth off the bench, but the Sky doesn’t even have three players on their team averaging 10 or more points.

I’m going to stick with Phoenix at home here. They’re starting to figure things out. Losing Taurasi will hurt them a little, but Brittany Griner will still be the best player in this game.

Bet: Mercury +2 (-110)
